Vanilla Catering & Events

Almost the Perfect 10

The party season is in full swing and suddenly December is upon us.

The past couple of weeks we have been busy testing our 2013 menus, all very exciting. Al, our photographer came down from London and we had 2 days of great fun shooting and testing our new dishes. (have a look at our facebook page for a great mini movie of the chefs in action !)

A new glossy brochure will be published in the New Year and you will shortly be able to download it from our website. We have a fantastic range of dishes available for 2013, all made with local Hampshire produce and as in keeping with the seasons as possible.

Some of my favourite dishes are

Canapés: Cottage Pie with Applewood Mash, Cripsy Olive Oil Bread cups, baked Quails Egg and Crispy Bacon Chards.

My favourite starter is Seared Scallops on crisp Belly Pork with Cauliflower Puree, Black Pudding Soil ( thats the Northerner in me !)  and Pea Shoots, Main: Saddle of Free Range Chicken with Hotch Potch Vegetables, Morel Mushrooms and Chicken Crackling and dessert well it has to be Roasted Lemon & Vanilla Bean Greek Yoghurt Delice on a Lavender Sponge with Granola Florentine. I attach a picture of my wonderful chefs who have devised these amazing menus.

Of course we are still happy to work with all our clients to produce a bespoke menu, and every client booking with us gets a full complimentary tasting.

Other news is we were shortlisted for the wedding Industry awards 2013 in the category of Independent career, sadly we did not win but the feedback from our past couples was fantastic. Thanks to all those who voted for us, it was obvious we were the winners in your eyes and many thanks for taking the time out to do this. We achieved nines across the board, our highest score was a 9.92 for quality and presentation of food on the day of the wedding. We are feeling pretty pleased with these scores, next year we hope to achieve the perfect 10 and walk away with the title, so watch this space.

Back at Vanilla HQ the days roll by, Xmas party season is upon us and we have a very packed December ahead with corporate banquets, canape parties and lots of weddings. This year we even have a wedding on New Years Eve.

Bens tash continued to grow for Movember, it sadly grew to be ginger (his poor wife Christine!) so he decided to dye it ….., it looks better, sadly Christine says it must go whilst we all now like it, so he as to choose between Vanilla or his wife, wonder who will win that one.

Big Matty continues to drink herbal teas, Kit has now joined in and we have a ridiculous choice of teas available from Chocolate tea to spiced Masala tea, me I am sticking to my Yorkshire Tea.

The Vanilla baby has yet to appear 10 days and counting for Peaches to become a yummy mummy, due date 12/12/2012……..scary or what.

I have signed up for the Great North Open Swim, 5k across lake Windermere, training has been stepped up and am now up to 2.4 km in a hour but must speed up, next step is the wet suit and open water. not a pretty sight especially after all that gorging on our new menus, watch this space for details of the charities I will be raising money for and how to sponsor me.

I will be running a series of wedding planning seminars in the New Year here at our HQ in Swanwick and at some of the venues we work at. These seminars will cover everything from time planning, table plans, the prefect wedding breakfast, alcohol quantities suggested playslist for your DJ, you name it we cover it, after all we have been doing this for 8 years so have hundreds of weddings behind us.  We appreciate every wedding is different, from planning a wedding in a tree house, a barn or a farmers field we can tell you how to do it and what to avoid. For more information and dates on these seminar please call us direct.

Don’t forget If you book your wedding or banquet with us you are helping our Charity for 2012/3. facing the world (www.facingtheworld.net) Every wedding or party you book with us for a three course sit down we will donate 20p to our charity. Have a look at their website, everyone deserves the right to smile on their wedding day and Facing the World carry out amazing work helping children with severe disfigurements so that one day they too can do just that.

For latest news, gossip and information follow us on twitter or face book, we have some great photos on face book of recent weddings, our new menus, peaches bump and even Bens moustache when it was still ginger……
