A Busy Year Beckons

Its 2014 the year in which August has 5 Fridays 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays, is this a good thing ? I am not sure but I thought I would share it with you. It does mean more Saturday weddings for Vanilla in this month than any other in our history though so I suppose it is  worth pointing out.

Welcome to 2014, I hope it is a happy healthy successful one for you all.

The Vanilla team are already in full swing and its only week two. We have had our first weddings of the year, our first corporate events and our first parties.

This week is a big week for us as we find out if we are the Wedding caterer of the year at the Wedding Industry Awards 2014 in London. We have already won the award for best Wedding Caterer London and the South East so we are feeling pretty pleased about this but this week we find out if we are the national winners. We travel to the big smoke to the party in Central London, to wine, dine and find out so watch this space.

Our new menus are in production and will be published later this month. We have a new brochure which is packed full of wonderful creations from lee and his team. All our dishes are created using as much Hampshire produce as possible. Our new menus encapsulate the wealth of fine ingredients our county has to offer from trout from the meon valley (which we smoke ourselves in our own Vanilla smokery) to New Forest Venison to the wonderful array of Hampshire cheeses, we try to incorporate all these into our dishes, not forgetting our hand made bread using Lee’s own mother dough.

Things overseas are hotting up with the Skaimis team (www.skiamis.com) continuing to cook the dishes that we created for them. If you want to sample these well I am afraid you will have the tough job of going skiing, however it is not just skiing, their superb chalets have hot tubs, saunas, contact skiamis for further details of the holidays they have to offer.

This February Vanilla celebrates its 10th anniversary, we are organising a big birthday bash for ourselves at one of our wonderful venues where we will be producing our finest dishes, serving Hampshire’s finest ales and wines and generally having a good old time. Invitation is by ticket only but we will be organising a mini competition in a couple of weeks to give away a few tickets so keep following.

 

Have you picked up your copy of The Hampshire Cookbook yet ? - A collection of recipes eagerly gathered and compiled by a food-loving team of volunteers from The Prince's Trust's Million Makers Challenge. Delia Smith, Rick Stein, Paul Hollywood, Marcus Wareing, Antonio Carluccio, Tommy Miah, Eric Lanlard and our own Lee Butler have all contributed to this innovative fundraising project - designed to entice the tastebuds If you want to buy a copy of this book pelase call the office all proceeds go to charity.

Don’t forget If you book your wedding or banquet with us you are helping our Charity for 2013/4. For every guest you invite to your wedding or party Vanilla will donate 20p to Wedding Wishing Well Foundation which organises and funds Weddings for terminally ill people.
