Vanilla Catering & Events

Venturing overseas

Last week we are ventured overseas  to the Isle  of Wight where we are catered for Flo and Aaron.

This is the first time the Vanilla team have catered for a wedding on the Island and it was indeed a great day. The private barn that Aaron and Flo had booked was a great fun filled venue. They had a very informal blessing with all the guests seated on bales of hay. Drinks and canapes were served in the stable yard overlooking the medina river , where incidentally the famous race horse Red Rum had slept many moons ago.

The main meal was served in the rustic barn, to start with they had a very summery, roasted butternut squash and raspberry salad with a main course of rack of Lamb with a chilli mint sauce

Aaron is  member of a Band – The Bees who are currently supporting Paul Weller on tour so we had a fantastic private performance and of course he dedicated a song to his lovely new wife Flo ….. it was indeed a romantic day !

As an aside did you know ?

The Bees (known in the United States as A Band of Bees) are an English band from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Although their sound is generally classified as indie rock or psychedelic rock, the band have a colourful range of styles and influences, such as 1960s garage rock, country, reggae and jazz.

The Bees have so far released three albums: 2002's Mercury Prize-nominated Sunshine Hit Me (which was acclaimed by critics for being recorded in frontman Paul Butler's own garden shed), its 2004 major label follow-up Free the Bees (which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios), and 2007's Octopus. Their fourth album, Every Step's A Yes, will be released on October 11, 2010.

The first two albums feature songs that have been used in British television advertisements, which are partially responsible for the band's recognition: Sunshine Hit Me's "A Minha Menina", a cover of an Os Mutantes track, appeared in a Citroën car commercial and also an advert for Magners Irish Cider, whilst "Chicken Payback" and "Wash in the Rain", both from Free the Bees, were incorporated in adverts for Sure Deodorant for Men and Sainsbury's, respectively. The official video for "Chicken Payback" features the band in an arcade-type dance game slot-machine in a Japanese video arcade. The lead character, apparently a rock and roll dance diva, dances so quickly that his shoes catch fire.

The Bees supported Oasis in 2005, and Madness in December 2007 during their Christmas tour. They are about to embark on a new tour supporting Paul Weller

Its nearly autumn, my favourite time of year, soon it will be time to think about your Xmas party. Its not too late to book us.

If you are wondering why you should pick us then here are a few of the testimonials we have received in the last week

Hello Martin and all at Vanilla Catering  (especially Cath and Steph)

Peter and I will be corresponding by letter to you when we return from our holiday at the end of September, but in the meantime, we just want to thank you all for the delicious food, the fantastic service and organisation.   We have received some lovely feed back from our guests clearly indicating that they all enjoyed the lunch from the starters to the coffee.   The organisation when like clockwork, Cath and Steph were superb.  Their professionalism and superb waitress service was exemplary.  One guest said “their smiles appeared to say they were enjoying the celebration as much as we all did” and when one is working, that’s a wonderful compliment.  So all we can say for the moment is …..

Thank you  and  WELL DONE VANILLA

MARKS OUT OF TEN FOR FOOD, ORGANISATION AND SERVICE  20 PLUS  !!!!!

Finally, what a wonderful team you make with Jane at Winslowe House – we could not have been looked after better and Peter and I will be grinning from ear to ear all of September and beyond.

Once again very many thanks – when my letter arrives, please feel free to use it (as advertising)  as you wish….
