Tipi, UGG Boots and a Venetian Carnival

Question, what’s the connection between a Tipi, bespoke UGG boots and a farmers field full of cow pats ?

Answer: Tony and Rachel’s wonderful wedding on Sunday at Durley.

Tony and Rachel came to see me earlier this year,  they wanted to have their wedding breakfast in a farmers field in Durley, no water, no power …..lot’s of cows and cow pats …..was it possible ? not only that, Tony works in London opposite the famous St Johns restaurant in Clerkenwell hence he is used to food cooked by the likes of Fergus Henderson, we could not promise Fergus  but we do have an amazing team of chefs lead by the brilliant Lee Butler.

As always we rose to the challenge and preparations were soon underway for a sumptuous feast. The cows were moved out, the tipi erected and Tony even removed the cow pats and lovingly placed sawdust in the spot where they had been ( Tony why did you do this ?)

Rachel in fear of stepping in the cow muck had ordered a bespoke pair of white ugg boots how cool is that eh ?

The guests feasted on canapés, lamb and a choice of desserts. In the evening the whole village was invited and a hog was roasted on a spit . Our hogs come from Westlands Farm in Wickham which is just up the road from Durley so in a way it was all kept in the neighbourhood !

Last weekend was very busy for us and we also catered for Gemma and Seb at the wonderful Tithe Barn, Jo and Phil at Sherfield School, Rebecca and Ralph at Winchester Guildhall  Steph and Ray in a private marquee in Warsah and Corrine and Rowan at the lovely Farbridge barn.

It’s September already, soon the nights will be drawing in and I will need my lights on my bicycle but we are still busy and on Friday we are catering for the annual Bursledon Regatta

With a history going back well over 100 years, the Regatta has it's origins in the friendly rivalry that existed between fishermen, yachtsman and watermen of the River Hamble, who organised races amongst themselves during the last century.  The annual event gained distinguished Regatta status with the title SWANWICK, BURSLEDON and WARSASH REGATTA organised by representatives from the three famous waterside villages.

This years theme is Venetian Carnival and we are supplying Venetian food for the night party, I am looking forward to partying after, not too hard though as Saturday sees us at Hill Place for the wedding of Rick and Rebecca. We are also at Rownhams house on Saturday and we have a private party in a marquee that same evening.

If you have not yet sorted your Christmas party and need advice, help or venue recommendations please feel free to give me a call
