Vanilla Catering & Events

Mud, Mayhem and a Massive Thankyou

April has been a very busy month for all of us here at Vanilla, it’s also been a very wet month.

Last weekend we had mayhem and mud at our various marquee weddings in Hampshire. Martin lucked out as he was at the Tithe barn on Saturday for Jamie and Liz’s big day. I was at Bragate Manor for Jo and Mark, thankfully Bradagte was not too muddy. Our lovely Emily though was at Guilbert Whites House for Johnny and Anna’s big day. All our weddings went wonderfully well, our team of chefs excelled under difficult conditions.

It was however, at Gilbert Whites house just before Midnight that the weather started to take its toll. The power in the marquee failed, perhaps it was the ghost of Guilbert who decided enough partying had gone on so he decided to pull the plug. Then to top that Horatio the van was stuck fast in the mud ! Poor Horatio had to spend the night with Guilbert and his ghoulies. Luckily for us a kind local farmer helped us retrieve him the next day. Also thanks to the wonderful Tudor catering (who supply us with all our crockery etc- www.tudorcatering.co.uk ) who kindly offered us assistance – thanks guys.

Anyway it was obviously not a problem for Johnny and Anna as already they have sent a thank you as below:

Hi Martin

Anna and I wanted to say a massive thank you to you and the Vanilla team for doing such a good job yesterday and in the lead up to the wedding. The food was fantastic and service impeccable.
We had a great time despite the weather and it all turned out rather raucous. Even the power cut was rather timely!

All the best and thanks again and I'm sure we will speak again when we get back from Honeymoon.
Kindest regards

Johnny & Anna

Have to also show you this lovely letter we got from Hannah and Mike addressed to Emily, our event manager, who ran their wedding at Winchester Guildhall

Hi Emily

Excuse the delay in contacting you, I think I have spent more time abroad than in England since the wedding - both business and pleasure, it’s not all glamorous!

Hannah and myself can’t thank you enough for the excellent way in which you and your staff and the whole team at Vanilla handled our wedding from start to finish. You and Vanilla were simply exceptional! Your professional, friendly and calm approach to our special day was something that you can’t put a price on. You are a credit to Vanilla Catering.

We still can’t believe it was all less than 3 weeks ago. Many of our guests have commented on the brilliance of the catering and the service they received on the day. My uncle, who’s business involves arranging catering in the corporate world, was blown away by the quality. The general consensus was that the food was exceptional and stood out from general mass catered wedding food - from the canapés to the main meal – to the timing and the service.

It has been an absolute pleasure dealing with Vanilla Catering and without question we would recommend you to anyone planning their wedding or function in Hampshire and the south.

Hannah already wants to renew our vows (wear her dress again) so we’ll be sure to get in touch for that function!

Kind regards

Mike

Tomorrow it’s May (hooray hooray it’s the first of May, outdoor eating starts today, well maybe not) but we do have our first wedding of the month. Kirsty and Jerome tie the knot at Winchester Guildhall with a lovely 4 course meal

Back at Vanilla HQ,Martin continues to wear his new jumper that we are all undecided about. Our fleet of vans are now very muddy after the weekend,So poor old Joe will be buffing and cleaning them before next weekend.

Our new red bar is finally built, another triumph by Kit, it had it’s first outing last week, this week it goes to Corhampton Lane Farm to spend the night by pool where we will be serving cocktails for Hannah and James’ big day, also this weekend we cater for Amy and Mark , Hannah and Orhan, and Pai and Piers.

We had our cheque presentation from the ellen macarthur cancer trust , check out our facebook page for a photograph of this.

Our Charity for 2012/3 is facing the world ( wwwfacingtheworld.net) so every wedding or party you book with us for a three course sit down we will donate 20p to our charity. Have a look at their website, everyone deserves the right to smile on their wedding day and Facing the World carry out amazing work helping children with severe disfigurements so that one day they too can do just that.

Have a good week for latest news, gossip and information follow us on twitter or face book
