Hampshire Fare Month

We are well into July and I don’t need to tell you the weather is shocking. We have had fun and games over the past month with all our marquee events. Never have our wellies had so much use. I am thinking of issuing them as standard Vanilla uniform next year. The conditions have been challenging but I have to admit we have had great fun catering at all our events. So many muddy fields, so many vans stuck, so many great people to tow us !  Next year perhaps we will invest in our own tractor.

Lasts weekend I was in an mazing marquee for Alison and Kevin’s big day, it rained of course, the field was so muddy we had to be towed to the marquee. We (well Lee and his team) managed to cook a five course meal under very difficult conditions.

 

The menu was as below and it was an absolute triumph

Back at Vanilla HQ we had our cool canapés classes as part of the Hampshire Fare Festival. Ben and Joe provided the expertise for our active workshops and  they even gave away a few of their trade secrets . The classes were amazingly popular and we are thinking of holding some more classes in the autumn so if you are interested please drop me a line.

Jane continues to hold the office together, telling me off for bringing my bicycle through the door dripping all over the office, she even offered to clean my wellies this morning, service above and  beyond the call of duty.….

Kit continues to expand our CRM system despairing with some of the luddites in the office, Emily, one of our lovely event mangers, passed her degree with a 2.1 in event management. congratulations Em.  

Lee and his brigade are ever expanding, soon they will be getting their heads together to produce a new set of menus to be launched in the  autumn.

Thank you letters continue to flood in, thanks to all lovely clients who take the time to do this as it is a real boost to the  team; here’s one of my favorites from last month

 

Well, we got away with it. The weather stayed dry until we were all inside the Marquee. I was not overwhelmed and didn’t hide in the larder as I occasionally do when stressed, (family joke) due to the fact I

didn’t have to make a single decision, and I could just enjoy myself, which I did! However, I have a bone to pick with you … Did our guests say, wasn’t the bride beautiful? NO Did they say how fantastically the marquee had been decorated? No Did they mention that the Lion dance was a great surprise? NO

NO, they said “that lamb was amazing!!! How on earth did the caterers cook 100 plus racks of lamb on site, it was awesome”. They also said, “the desserts were brilliant, I wanted one of each and my husband wouldn’t share”. Upstaging the bride was a bit naughty! Once again Sally you and your team were amazing, from our very first meeting with your, few knew we were in safe hands. The day was not without its

difficulties for you and you handled the delay of the arrival time of guests for canapés so well. The marquee

looked wonderful when it was all set up, and the white napkins were the correct choice. Your staff of waitresses were so good natured, even to the waitress who spent time up ending the floating candles after the Koi had knocked them over thinking they could eat them. It was a superb day, one that was exactly as Nichola and Andrew envisaged, thank you to you and your team for making their special day

extraordinary.

If you book us you are helping our Charity for 2012/3. facing the world ( www.facingtheworld.net) Every wedding or party you book with us for a three course sit down we will donate 20p to our charity. Have a look at their website, everyone deserves the right to smile on their wedding day and Facing the World carry out amazing work helping children with severe disfigurements so that one day they too can do just that.
